An introductory exploration into product design through furniture, the Tudor Botanical Stand investigates the relationship between user and object. The separable lap-joint construction allows the two structures to be rearranged, stacked, or transported, emphasizing adaptability over fixed function.

concept development
This project marked my introduction to product design, shifting focus from making an object to designing interaction and adaptability. The form draws from Tudor arch geometry, softening rigid vertical supports to balance stability and lightness. Joinery became part of the concept: unglued lap joints allow disassembly while domino joinery provides alignment and strength. The result is a transportable, reconfigurable structure defined as much by the user’s arrangement as by the designer’s form.

Starting from a base form taught in class, finding the right form became the main goal along with figuring out a system to allow the user to arrange the plantstand however they would wish to.
